IT Services Provider

How Corecom helped an IT Services Provider grow their Support Team using a bespoke ‘temp to perm’ model.

Key successes

Introduced a bespoke ‘Temp to Perm’ model

Hired full Support Team, placing six people into that team on a temporary to permanent basis

This IT Service Provider supports businesses to deliver positive outcomes through technology and innovation. The company’s services include Cloud, Data, Network, Security and Business Applications.

Situation

During 2022 the IT Services Provider was struggling with recruitment. With a whopping 27 recruitment agencies on their Preferred Supplier List (PSL), vacancies going out to all of them and a speed over quality approach by recruiters on the list, they were finding that there had been no prior candidate engagement and they were receiving multiple CVs that had not been properly vetted. As a result, the company’s inhouse recruitment team and hiring managers found they were spending just as much, if not more, time managing the recruitment process and the use of outside recruitment assistance was not having a positive effect.

Challenge

The IT Services Provider signed a contract partnership with Corecom, working exclusively on technology roles, initially for contract roles. Then, owing to the companies fast growth and increasing workload (both internal and client facing), entrusted Corecom with the responsibility of sourcing permanent solutions in a bespoke model designed to maximise success.

Senior IT Appointments

The company, who had not managed contractors previously, was unaware of the IR35 regulations and process. They did not have their own contracts, were unaware of expected day rates and the contract market as a whole.

Results

The IT Services Provider signed up to IR35 Connect, Corecom’s comprehensive compliance solution for contractor hiring businesses. Using the tool, the company was able to gain contract and market knowledge.

Corecom supported them with their recruitment needs, hiring talented contractors into their Transformation and Change and Software Development departments.

Making sure that we were one step ahead of the company’s immediate urgent needs, we:

  • Aligned their recruitment processes
  • Got to know their current teams
  • Understood their IT landscape
  • Had the opportunity to analyse where their gaps and struggles were

Given we already had an existing relationship with the company, Corecom understood what they needed very quickly from the outset. We could see, for example, where the gaps were in their job descriptions and job titles. For all roles, we were able to design a support model for them within a day of liaising with the team. The following day, Corecom kicked off the recruitment process.

Introducing a ‘Temp to Perm’ model, Corecom hired the company’s full Support Team, placing six people into that team on a temporary to permanent basis. All of the placed candidates have successfully completed the temporary placement and moved into full-time roles. The feedback from all candidates is positive and the entire team are planning work towards career progression with the company.
