What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?
I’m woken up by my kids around 6.30am. Breakfast takes roughly 1 hour to decide what fruit they don’t want to eat, but at least I get to enjoy a coffee and then it’s a 15 minute dash to get myself ready and out for work. I’m in the office around 8.30 (if not working from home). After the morning meeting its more coffee, breakfast and catching up with the team then its into the days activities. The day can be varied and I like to spend a good bit of my time making myself available to my team for any questions or advice they may need alongside picking up my own bits of recruitment and working on the Corecom Technology Academy business. It certainly keeps me busy, but busy is good!
I try and get out for a run most lunchtimes to blow the cobwebs off but if not I’ll make sure to break away from the screen for 20-30 minutes to refresh.
Depending on the day of the week I’ll either be on school pick up or power through to the end of the day. Corecom gives a great degree of flexibility and I can make up the hours in the evening if I need to flex around my kids which is perfect!
In the evening its tea, bath and then bedtime routine for my 3 kids before crashing on the sofa with the missus around 8pm. This can be disrupted by the occasional 5 a side football night but usually its tidying up bits of work and then relaxing in front of the football or a good drama series before bed at 10.00pm, ready to hit the next day full on (unless I’m woken at 2am by my kids of course, in which case it’ll be 4 coffee’s the next day!)
What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?
The culture here is great! There is a big mix of people from all different backgrounds and personal cultures yet everyone gets on so well. There is a common theme of people wanting to excel in what they do and provide the best level of service they can to both clients and candidates that is refreshing to see.
How do you spend those well deserved days off?
Outside of work I have another full time job – being daddy to my 3 beautiful children. Usually this means drops at swimming, dance, football, gymnastics and generally having fun. If we’re not out and about we’re in the garden playing.
What job would you be terrible at?
Ski Instructor – I’m like bambi on ice! Literally!
What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?
What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
