About the company

Our client is a well-known UK online retailer with a friendly, relaxed culture. They are a smaller business where people can raise ideas with the right person, and they genuinely care about work-life balance and protecting their people from burnout.

About the role

They're looking for a second IWS subject matter expert to join a small specialist team. You'll work alongside an experienced specialist who is carrying a heavy workload, helping share the load and building long-term resilience in a business-critical area.

What you'll be doing

  • Building scripts that run through IBM Workload Scheduler
  • Creating and maintaining batch schedules
  • Analysing and resolving complex problems in depth
  • Potentially carrying out IWS upgrades

What you'll need

  • Significant, recent, hands-on IWS experience, ideally with more recent versions rather than older ones only
  • Proven experience building scripts and batch schedules, not just operating or monitoring jobs
  • Mainframe knowledge, specifically JCL and REXX
  • Current, up-to-date experience of both IWS and mainframe environments

What's on offer

  • £60,000 to £70,000 salary
  • Hybrid working with 2 office days per week for local candidates (the office is open Tuesday to Thursday), or fully remote with occasional visits to the office
  • Private healthcare options, reward schemes, perks and staff discounts
  • Possible management training and the chance to work on other technology projects, depending on your interests
  • A supportive, friendly culture with a real focus on work-life balance
