Putting People First: How We Champion Employee Wellbeing for a Thriving Workplace

In today’s fast-paced world, prioritising employee wellbeing is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. At Corecom we understand that happy and healthy employees are the backbone of a successful organisation. That’s why we champion a holistic approach to workplace wellbeing, one that fosters not just productivity, but genuine human connection and fulfillment.

Our internal wellbeing team is led by HR and Operations Manager and Mental Health First Aider, Gemma Robinson, alongside a team of 4 others to champion wellbeing in the workplace. Gemma told us what wellbeing means to her:

People are at the heart of our business, which is why we truly champion mental health and staff wellbeing. We also put diversity and inclusion at the heart of what we do, both for our clients through our D&I training offering, and internally by ensuring our policies and environment are inclusive of all intersectional identities. Through supportive ERG groups, training on significant observations such as Ramadan, celebrations for Global Diversity Day through a shared lunch of foods from different cultures, and paid time off for parents needing childcare days, it helps Corecom attract and retain our people whilst creating a truly inclusive and welcoming workplace.

We focus on the following areas:

  • Physical health: Encouraging employees to prioritise their physical health through initiatives like fitness programs, standing desks, and wellness challenges.
  • Mental health: Promoting mental wellbeing through resources such as employee check-ins, stress management training, and wellbeing days.
  • Work-life balance: Supporting employees in finding a healthy balance of work and personal lives by offering flexible work arrangements including remote work options.
  • Career development: Prioritising employees’ professional growth by providing opportunities for skills training, mentorship programs, career coaching, and encouraging internal promotions.
  • Employee engagement and satisfaction: Fostering a positive work culture by promoting employee recognition programmes, team-building activities, open communication, and creating a supportive work environment.
  • Financial wellness: Offering financial education training, pension education and access to financial advisors to support employees’ financial wellbeing.

Using these areas of focus, Gemma and the team have been able to support the whole team in a variety of ways. When asked about wellbeing strategies that work, Gemma stated:

We’re building a workplace where health, happiness, and productivity work in harmony, by putting the interest of wellbeing and intersectionality at the heart of our business. We’re looking for senior recruiters in the Yorkshire area and The Netherlands, so if you want to be supported in all areas of your wellbeing, and celebrated for the diversity you bring to the team, in an environment where you can thrive, get in touch using the form below.

What people say about us
We’re proud to be a 5-star rated company on Google. See what people say about us.

I’ve worked at Corecom since 2018 and I’ve loved every minute of it. The atmosphere is different to any other environment I’ve been in before and it’s really a place where you can get on without any of the classic recruitment stereotypes. I’m a big believer in the fact that if you enjoy coming to work then you’ll never need to be encouraged to perform and that’s exactly the case at Corecom.
