Empowering young people and building a brighter future: Corecom partners with Getaway Girls

In today’s fast-paced world, where empowerment, confidence, and support are essential for young individuals to thrive, there are few initiatives as impactful as those that focus on the growth and development of young people. Corecom, as part of a commitment to work towards the betterment of the wider community, has taken a step forward in this direction by partnering with Getaway Girls, a Leeds-based charity that’s dedicated to empowering girls and young women, helping them build confidence, resilience, and raise their aspirations in a positive and nurturing environment.

A legacy of local charitable support

Corecom’s dedication to giving back to the community has been unwavering. Over the years, we have supported various local charities, fostering positive change and making a lasting impact on many lives. Previous charity partnerships include organisations like Moonlight Trust, Candlelighters, and Emmaus Leeds.

Corecom and Getaway Girls

Getaway Girls became Corecom’s charity partner for our immensely successful women in tech event, WITBoss, in June 2023. During this event, Consultant Gemma Febrero took centre stage to shed light on the incredible work carried out by Getaway Girls. Gemma spoke passionately about the charity’s efforts to empower girls and young women in Leeds, helping them develop new skills, take positive risks, and build a better future for themselves.

The ‘35 for 35’ Campaign

A highlight of this year is the ’35 for 35′ fundraising campaign, an initiative launched by Getaway Girls to secure support for its work. The funds raised will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing efforts of Getaway Girls, enabling them to continue their impactful work and enable the charity to help even more young people in more ways.

Work experience and beyond

Corecom has welcomed five young individuals aged 15 to 18 from Getaway Girls, offering them work experience within their Leeds office this summer. Through this initiative, these young women have been given a firsthand look into the world of work, with exposure to recruitment, marketing, and various aspects of the professional environment.

Championing Corecom’s charity partnerships

Corecom’s commitment to charity partnerships exemplifies the company’s core values of community engagement, giving back, and social responsibility. By supporting organisations like Getaway Girls, they not only uplift the lives of individuals within their community but also serve as a beacon of inspiration for other companies to follow suit. The impact of such partnerships goes beyond monetary contributions; it radiates a message of unity, hope, and the potential to create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
