Corecom provides ‘pink’ party bags to Leeds Children’s Hospital ward

We are delighted to be able to continue our support of Candlelighters, a truly special children’s cancer charity, working with families across Yorkshire.  Their recent flagship campaign, Pink It Up Week, ran from 28 June to 5 July 2021, raising funds and awareness for children with cancer in our region. We’re proud to be involved with Pink It Up, by funding pink party bags for children staying on the oncology wards at Leeds Children’s Hospital and we hope that, in some small way, we brightened the days of the children, teens and parents on the wards and brought a smile to their faces.

The bags were filled with pink goodies and treats for children and parents, including sweets, drinks, and activities to keep them entertained. Children receiving treatment for cancer may need to stay in hospital for long periods of time and now, especially with the COVID pandemic placing a limit on visitors, it can be an isolating place.

In addition to the pink goody bags, we also provided pink doughnuts for the NHS teams who do such an incredible job of treating and looking after children on the oncology wards, as well as some fun outdoor games for families to play during their stay in hospital.

Chris Salt, Partnerships Executive at Candlelighters said:

“We are so grateful to the team at Corecom Consulting for helping to provide these goody bags for children staying on the wards. At Candlelighters, we think it’s important to bring as much fun and positivity as possible to children undergoing cancer treatment and that’s exactly what these bags helped to do. Staying in hospital can be daunting for children at any time, no less during a pandemic. If there’s something we can do to make their stay even a little better, then that is what we always aim to do for these children.”

In addition, Corecom employees Sam Finnegan and Kelly Newton completed the Total Warrior 12K, and Ash Grant and her daughter Ella completed the Junior Warrior, raising over £600 for Candlelighters Trust. They swam through ice cold water, rolled around in thick mud, tackled numerous obstacles and face planted a few times.
