The Impact of AI on Performance Testing
Corecom’s Software Testing team, Becky, George, and Ben were pleased to host the latest TestBoss event in April. They welcomed Cassy Calvert, Leeds Hub Director at Sogeti, as they discussed the theme ‘Alexa…are we testing AI or is it testing us?’.
The event aimed to address critical concerns around AI including those related to security, ethics, bias, and overall benefits through a ‘world café’ style event. Cassy encouraged discussion and collaboration throughout the event, with attendees sharing personal experiences and opinions on AI and its future in testing using the following topics as prompts:
- NFT and AI
- Do we worry about security/ethics in AI?
- Are there real benefits of AI?
- Does AI mean the destruction of the testing role?
- Should we test out bias?
Despite concerns being raised around AI and its impact on Testing, the room agreed that AI was something to be embraced and seen as a positive as it could bring valuable benefits to their roles including:

The attendees also agreed that AI can only be valuable to them in their roles if they stay on top of the latest developments and advancements, continuing to upskill themselves, and embrace AI technologies.
The overall consensus of AI was positive by the end of the event, with everyone agreeing it’s not there to replace testing jobs but to enhance them. One attendee stated:
“Really enjoyed the cafe style questions when discussing different aspects of AI and what the outcome for testing may be. Some really interesting views from all the people there and good conversations.”

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
