Aishia shortlisted for Yorkshire Rose Award for her commitment to educating and celebrating those in underprivileged groups

Corecom Consulting’s Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador, Aishia Ullah, has been shortlisted for the ‘Yorkshire Rose Award’ by Lean In Leeds.

This recognition celebrates Aishia’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), Women in Technology (WIT) and for giving a voice to those that may not always be heard.

Recognised as a ‘rising star and one to watch’, Aishia’s work impacts her peers, the tech community, women in technology, employers, and candidates. Aishia is committed to educating and celebrating those in underprivileged groups and creating safe spaces for people ask questions and advice.

For the last two years, Aishia has driven the diversity and inclusion agenda at Corecom Consulting, leading the way and working towards overcoming the challenges of building an inclusive workforce in the tech sector. This has included:

  • Delivering D&I training to colleagues and clients to understand bias and its impact on recruitment, attracting diverse talent and inclusive recruitment.
  • Hosting two D&I events for employers as part of Leeds Digital Festival and two WIT events; one aimed at employers looking to attract more female candidates and one for women keen to progress in their technology careers.
  • Launching campaigns for Black History month and LGBTQ+ History month for colleagues at Corecom Consulting.
  • Conducting industry and D&I surveys with employees, clients and candidates to understand the landscape and drive positive change.
  • Providing bespoke D&I services to five Yorkshire-based businesses.
  • Setting up a dedicated LinkedIn page called ‘Yorkshire’s (Finest) D&I Community’ with the aim to bring together professionals with a passion for D&I.
  • Developing new modules as part of the D&I training package.
  • Planning further events, including a WIT event in collaboration with Leeds Beckett and a D&I event at Leeds Digital Festival.
  • Winning ‘Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the Year’ at the Growing Business Awards and being shortlisted for two additional prestigious D&I Awards.

Jonathan Sanderson, Managing Director at Corecom Consulting said:

“Aishia demonstrates self-drive, ambition, integrity, passion and for going above and beyond her everyday role. She creates and shares content, resources for her peers and training materials, as well as training internal and external teams, hosting D&I and WIT events and acknowledging a variety of awareness months and days. This is alongside being a mentor to members of her team and exceeding her own business targets.”

Aishia Ullah, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador at Corecom Consulting said:

“It’s amazing to be recognised alongside so many incredible and inspirational women in Leeds. I don’t do it for accolades and recognition but to know that what I’m doing is being noticed and is making a difference makes everything worthwhile. Huge congratulations to all of the winners!”

Lean In Leeds, one of the largest women’s networking groups in Yorkshire, launched its inaugural Women of Excellence Awards to celebrate the incredible women of the region. The ceremony took place at Bruntwood in Platform on Wednesday 22 March, to tie in with International Women’s Day. It shone a light on women at all ages and stages, especially those who aren’t typically involved in conventional awards ceremonies.
