Sam Finnegan’s Lands’ End to John O’Groats Challenge
On Friday 25 June 2021, Corecom Consulting’s Software Testing Recruiter, Sam Finnegan and his younger brother, Eoin Finnegan, will embark on the gruelling 911 mile cycle from Lands’ End; the extreme southern point in England in Cornwall, to John O’Groats; the extreme northern point of Mainland Scotland in Caithness.
They will hope to complete the ride between the two extremities in nine days, whilst raising money for the incredible Mind Charity. Mind provide advice and support to those experiencing mental health problems, and campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
The Office for National Statistics (2021) reported one in five adults (21%) had experienced some form of depression between January and March 2021, which is more than double than what it was before the COVID-19 pandemic (10%) began in 2020.
Sam said:
“Over the past 5 years I’ve seen how mental health and wellbeing have impacted on myself and so many others. The charity, Mind, has been beneficial to so many, raising the awareness around the associated stigma.
“To maintain our positive attitude, my brother and I wanted to embark on a challenge that would push us mentally and physically. We are not cyclists but decided this is something we could accomplish with the support of family and friends.”
