TalkTalk confirms relocation to Manchester
Telecoms company, TalkTalk, which currently has its headquarters in London, has confirmed its relocation to the Soapworks development in Salford Quays, Manchester. The company will move hundreds of employees to its new HQ, becoming one of the largest organisations to switch from a London HQ, to an alternative major city.
The change comes as TalkTalk aims to streamline its operations and create a ‘world-class campus for the whole business’. The company’s objectives are to improve team collaboration, increase flexible working opportunities and recruit and retain the best employees. The new site will enable the business to achieve this, as well as providing impressive glass mobile meeting hubs, views of the Manchester skyline and a roof terrace.
TalkTalk has seen a strong first half of the year with headline revenue up by 3.9% to £771 million, attributed to broadband base growth and further improvements as a result of streamlining the business. The move requires the relocation of approximately 500 employees and the creation of new roles, including graduate and apprenticeship positions.
This is further positive news for the North, following tech giant Amazon’s confirmation of a new base in Manchester, bringing 600 new digital, technology and research and development vacancies. Additional companies which have confirmed Manchester bases this year include Booking.com, Moonpig and The Hut Group. FTSE 250 company, TalkTalks’ arrival to Manchester is yet another significant boost for the North and to the digital and technology sector.
