Fellow Sky Betting & Gaming ‘techies’ confirmed as ITBoss keynote speakers

The keynote speakers for the next ITBoss on 24 August 2017 from 6.00 – 8.30pm, have been announced as Simon Roberts, Principal Consultant at Infinity Works Consulting and Joe Ellis, Product Manager – Free To Play Games at Sky Betting & Gaming.

REGISTER HERE

Simon started his career working for British Telecom (BT) in Solution and Service Architect roles.  He progressed to Technical Lead at NHS Connecting for Health, followed by Solution Architect at BSkyB where he met fellow keynote speaker, Joe Ellis.  More recently, Simon worked as a Technical Architect at BJSS, before securing his current role at Infinity Works Consulting; an Agile software delivery consultancy.

Joe began his career on the Graduate Scheme for Betfred in Gibraltar as Poker Product Administrator, before moving to Betfred’s Warrington offices as Sportsbook Product Executive, followed by Sportsbook Product Development Manager.  Joe joined Sky Betting & Gaming in Leeds a year and a half ago as Product Manager for Free to Play Games.  When asked about his current role, Joe said:

“In online betting, the sporting calendar of events drives our product and marketing roadmaps . These fixed events leave little or no room for flexibility on a delivery date. Its not like we can convince the British Horse Racing Authority to push the Cheltenham Festival back so that Sky Bet can launch their brand new product in time for that pinnacle of the racing calendar. Nonetheless, in mid-January, I’d be dishonest if I said I hadn’t considered a “Dear sir/madam,” plea to the British Horse Racing Authority to persuade them otherwise!

“I’ll look to discuss how working in an Agile environment with fixed date deliverables in areas such as sport betting can still be successful, even if challenging!”

Infinity Works, BBC and John Lewis to Attend ITBoss

Our award winning, Yorkshire based ITBoss networking event for Senior IT Professionals is next week.  Some of the confirmed attendees include representatives from BBC, Infinity Works and John Lewis.  ITBoss will be held at 6.00pm on Thursday 12 November 2015 in central Leeds.

Tom Walton, Director, Clement Pickering, Principal Consultant and Gary Green, Principal Consultant at Infinity Works have announced their presentation topic for the evening.  The presentation, titled ‘No More Pet Projects’, explores techniques to guide your organisation to deliver value quicker and more closely aligned to your business strategies.

The topic has come about as a result of delivery tending to primarily focus upon time, cost and scope.  IT is tasked with ‘delivering the thing right’ and utilising techniques such as DevOps to aid in delivering features in a rapid, repeatable and predictable manner.  However, in a world of DevOps and Agile Delivery, a more holistic focus is required to encompass ‘are we delivering the right thing?’

Speaking ahead of ITBoss Gary Green, Guest Speaker and Principal Consultant at Infinity Works said:

“Infinity Works is very excited to be invited to present at ITBoss.  One of our core values is to share our learnings & techniques and we welcome the opportunity to present at this excellent event.”
