IAfter getting into recruitment as a trainee straight out of college and working my way up to become a Senior Consultant, I joined Corecom to lead our Infrastructure division. I enjoy my role because it allows me to engage closely with candidates and clients to better understand their needs and provide support, every situation is completely unique which means my role is very varied! The roles I cover include Support, Engineering, Networking, Architecture, and Managerial.

What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?

I start my day around 6:45am after snoozing my alarm a ridiculous amount of times, if I’m working from home I try to find the motivation to do an early morning workout, if I’m in the office I get ready and jump on the train to Leeds! From getting into the office at 8am until lunch I drink far too many cups of tea while speaking to the best Infrastructure candidates in the North and catching up with some of our lovely clients!

Over lunch I try and go for a walk around the city centre to grab some food or do a little window shopping. In the afternoon you can normally find me on calls I’ve scheduled earlier in the day or setting up interviews!

After work, I jump back on the train home, or if I’m already at home I normally do the workout I failed to do in the morning because I couldn’t get out of bed! After work, I spend my evenings trying new recipes or binge-watching the same 3 TV shows (my average rotation is Brooklyn 99, The US Office, and the Peep Show).

What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?

I love the team mentality, it’s really not your typical recruitment agency. We have lots of fun from nights out to sales days when we get dressed up and have a laugh while doing the job!

How do you spend those well deserved days off?

I love to travel and eat nice food, luckily the two tend to go hand in hand. Through Covid, I got more into health & fitness as I was unable to do the things, I would normally like to do such as going abroad or trying new places to eat, so now I enjoy doing regular PT classes and going on my peloton bike!

What job would you be terrible at?

I couldn’t work in an animal rescue centre – I would come home with a new pet every day!

What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?

Never settle for less than you deserve.

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment.
