Katie Menzies

I am the Client Engagement Manager at Corecom. My role involves managing our biggest clients and supporting them with personalised recruitment campaigns. The team I manage specialises across a wide-breath of IT and Technology meaning we cover a large scope to be able to support our clients. We are the team that find the needles in the hay-stack and help our clients during some of their most crucial growth periods.

What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?

My usual day starts around 7:15am with lots of kisses from my little dog Teddy! I will then take him for his morning walk first thing, which usually entails of him dragging me round our estate as he is the only one full of life at that time! I will then come back and get ready for my day at work, with a team meeting every morning at 8:30am with our entire company. After this I will have a 1-2-1 team meeting to ensure everyone is set up for the day, support them with challenges and blockers then make a plan for the day.

After all my team is set up, I will then get started with my own day which always starts with tackling my inbox and prioritising the most urgent tasks from there (I’m a freak that likes to have an empty inbox – so I delete as I action!).

I will then set to working a live role myself, speaking to as many suitable candidates and qualifying them against my clients needs. Once I have found suitable candidates my day is usually spent meeting them either face to face or virtually (over Zoom or MS Teams). Once I have my shortlist I will then spend time with my client to get the ball rolling with interviews etc. So if I’m not on the phone I’m on a meeting! (Good job I like talking!)

Around 5:30pm every day I will plan for the following day, and catch up with my team of their day’s successes.  After my day is finished I’ll take Teddy on a walk before starting dinner (or going out for dinner which is much more common in my house!)

What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?

Corecom is my second job in recruitment and you know how the saying goes – first the worst second the best! I love working here and I have done from my first ever conversation with our MD Jon Sanderson. Corecom possesses all the qualities that I was looking for in a recruitment organisation, somewhere that prides itself on standing out from the rest by offering a unrivalled service to our clients. Face to face business and building relationships is BY FAR my most favourite part of the job and at Corecom we are encouraged every single day to get out and see our clients and candidates. I have been here since 2018 and have not looked back once, I have grown as a recruiter into a team lead and am working towards my Associate Director promotion – the sky is the limit at Corecom.

I also have THE best team around me, that supports me no matter what – we are all there for each other every step of the way.

How do you spend those well deserved days off?

With my dog mostly! I take him everywhere with me: from having my curly blow dries and shopping in Zara to travelling across the UK to see friends and family. I have recently bought a house so weekends have been focused on renovating and making my first house a home.

What job would you be terrible at?

Anything that involves working nights or outside! I love my sleep too much and nothing makes me moan more than being cold or wet!

What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?

You can never be over dressed or over educated!

What people say about us
We’re proud to be a 5-star rated company on Google. See what people say about us.

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
