I am the Frontend Developer consultant for the Netherlands at Corecom. My role involves enhancing both the permanent and contract aspects of our network, especially implementing our business development strategy for the Frontend Developer segment, identifying market trends whilst also educating candidates and clients on industry demands, skills shortage and solutions for it.

What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?
My day starts by getting breakfast and walking into work and with the first meeting at 08:30 with the company, it’s a great way to celebrate the wins from the previous day, put in place best practices and to see those working from home.
My mornings will focus around connecting with new clients and candidates and afternoons will focus on catching up with current clients and candidates to see what is happening in the Developer and wider IT industry.
One aspect that is important is qualifying new opportunities with clients to make sure the best outcome for us and then it can be achieved, prepping candidates for interview.
Given we are building out the Netherlands network another crucial point to this is setting up Tech Boss and Dev Boss events allowing my existing and new network to discuss current topics across the IT sector.
What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?
I joined in November 2021 and the biggest change I enjoyed is the collaborative nature of the company. Given that all our markets interlink across the IT sector.
Growing a new market for the business is also very exciting for me as it is what I did in my previous role as well as giving the opportunity to travel and work in a different country.
The other area I like is the encouragement of new thoughts and ideas from senior management to help improve the business.
How do you spend those well deserved days off?
A big goal of mine this year is trying to get back into running so at least once a week I am running after work but also playing 5-a-side.
On the weekends I spend them with my girlfriend, during the pandemic we have been doing a lot of walking in the Yorkshire area as well as being able to finally go to a couple of gigs.
What job would you be terrible at?
Chef – fear of mushrooms.
What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?
If you are worried about a situation, make a list with two columns – one with the parts you can control and one with the parts you can’t.
What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
