What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?

My day usually begins at 6.30am which involves getting an oat latte in my system as quickly as possible! I then ensure I leave the house on time to get my train into Leeds station for around 8am. I then make my way towards the local Pret to take advantage of their £20 a month subscription (Have you guessed I am a coffee lover yet?)

After getting myself into the office, my day consists of speaking with clients and candidates across the Netherlands, support in either their current requirements across the senior IT appointments space, speaking with candidates about their next potential move whilst also providing a range of market knowledge to both my clients and candidates.

Lunchtime usually involves yet another coffee and a catch up with some friends over lunch – with the occasional (somewhat too often) trip to Zara! We love to catch up as a team after lunch to speak about challenges we’re currently trying to overcome, whilst also celebrate the wins we have had from the morning!

As my working day comes to a close, I attempt to attend a PT session at the gym, jump on the train home and make something healthy for tea before eating 5,000 calories worth of unhealthy snacks. (Balance is key!)

What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?

Corecom are specialists in their field who are known for providing a genuine consultative approach to both candidates and clients. It is an exciting time moving into the European market and providing business solutions surrounding retained search, permanent and contract IT recruitment services to a range of organisations; from start-ups and SME’s through to FTSE listed organisations.

How do you spend those well deserved days off?

I love to socialise with my friends however over lockdown we have replaced our pub evenings to long walks in North Yorkshire. I am a big fan of cooking however I spend a lot more time reading recipes opposed to actually cooking them!

What job would you be terrible at?

Primary school teaching – I know what I was like in school, so I commend teachers for their patience!

What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?

Professionally it has to be a quote a manager told me on my first ever day in recruitment, which was: “If you don’t need a drink in the pub with your mates on a Friday, then you haven’t worked hard enough!”

What people say about us
We’re proud to be a 5-star rated company on Google. See what people say about us.

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
