Jamie and Mike complete 29-mile walk for St. Gemma’s Hospice
As part of Corecom Consulting’s continued partnership with the charity, Emmaus Leeds, who provide a home and meaningful work to people who have experienced homelessness, employees Jamie Gillan, and Mike Ham, walked 29 miles on Sunday 22 July alongside 18 other fundraisers.
Both contributed to raising nearly £1,000 for St. Gemma’s Hospice, a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses.
Alongside Emmaus’ formerly homeless (companions), volunteers and trustees, Jamie and Mike took on the 29-mile challenge from Leeds to Skipton to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice, who have supported Emmaus companions.
Speaking about the experience, Corecom Consulting’s Recruitment Consultant, Jamie, explained:
“The walk was a huge challenge and something I am proud to be part of. Personally, it meant a great deal to me because St Gemma’s Hospice supported my dad It was also great to speak to Emmaus’ companions and find out about their experiences and why they were taking part.”
Dave Kirk, one of the companions at Emmaus Leeds, who completed the challenge, said:
“I wanted to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice and get myself fit after a heart operation earlier this year. The walk was both stimulating, well planned and certainly exhilarating! It was a little bit too warm but thoroughly enjoyable.”
Becky Hole, Senior Fundraiser at St Gemma’s Hospice, commented:
“Thank you so much to the residents and colleagues at Emmaus Leeds for walking 29 miles between Leeds and Skipton and choosing to raise funds for St Gemma’s Hospice. We are so grateful for your support in this way, your fundraising has helped continue to provide end of life care to the people of Leeds affected by a life-threatening illness, we really can’t thank you enough.”
Well done to Jamie and Mike and to everyone involved – you deserve a good rest now!
